Dow: Comply with criminal court order on Bhopal tragedy

Bhopal gas leak victims shout slogans asNearly 30 years ago, on 3 December 1984, toxic gas leaked from the Union Carbide India Limited factory in Bhopal, India. As many as 10,000 people died in 3 days – 1000s more have died since.

Union Carbide Corporation – majority owner of UCIL – has never appeared in Indian courts to answer charges, including “culpable homicide not amounting to murder”. UCC’s parent company Dow Chemical has done nothing to ensure UCC respects India’s justice system.

A Bhopal court has summoned Dow to appear on 12 November to explain why it has not produced UCC in court. Dow can no longer ignore UCC’s disregard for survivors & the rule of law. Dow & UCC must face up to their responsibilities for this injustice. Read more >>
