BBC World Service Report on forthcoming film ‘A Prayer For Rain’ and 30th anniversary of disaster.

A-Prayer-for-Rain-poster-250x361The much anticipated film, Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain is due to be released in the US this week. Inspired by the world’s worst industrial disaster which took place on December 2nd, 1984 when a pesticide leak at the Union Carbide plant in Bhopal, Central India killed more than 10,000 people in a few hours.

On Sunday the BBC World Service weekend programme featured a report by journalist Matthew Wells on the forthcoming film, which stars Martin Sheen, Kal Penn and Mischa Barton. The report includes interviews at an exclusive screening of A Prayer for Rain in New York with the stars of the film and Bhopal activist, and Executive Trustee of the Bhopal Medical Appeal, Tim Edwards, who spoke on the continuing disaster in Bhopal.

‘Bhopal A Prayer for Rain’  Opens on the 7th of November at the NYC The Village East Cinema with special screenings on the 5th and 6th.
