BMA Runners Tackle British London 10K

Martin Stott, who celebrated his 65th birthday by running the London 10K

A five-strong team of runners set out on the British London 10k in support of the Bhopal Medical Appeal last Sunday, 21st July. A muggy, warm Sunday morning, preceding this week’s heatwave, presented trying enough conditions but our runners all made respectable times around the central London course.

Among this year’s runners was Martin Stott, a long-standing supporter of our appeal, who was running as a 65th birthday challenge and taking donations in lieu of birthday gifts. Martin visited Bhopal in 1985, not long after the disaster, and witnessed some of the first real organisation of a survivors’ movement. You can see a selection of Martin’s 1985 photos HERE.

Our thanks go to Martin, along with our other runners: Sunil De Sayrah, Rajeev Nandan, Dan Turner and Geoffrey Southwell, all of whom have run for BMA on multiple occasions. Thanks also to those who had to pull out through injury but kindly made a donation instead of running.
