35th Anniversary Events at the Sambhavna and Chingari Clinics

Throughout the next week a number of events will take place at both the Sambhavna and Chingari clinics to mark the 35th anniversary of the disaster and honour all those who have lost their lives in the years since. Here are some of the events that have been organised by the clinics:

On the evening of 30th November, the children of the Chingari Trust will light candles in tribute to the martyrs of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy.

From the 1st to the 3rd of December the Chingari Trust will hold an exhibition of photographs at Iqbal Maidan that show the horrifying effects of MIC, even 35 years later, on children being born into families affected by the gas and subsequent water contamination in the city.

From the 1st to the 3rd of December the Sambhavna Trust will also hold an exhibition at Iqbal Maidan entitled ‘Possibilities in Compassion: the Unique Story of Human Sympathy’. The exhibition tells the tale of how people all over the world have supported the ongoing work at Sambhavna. They will also be screening a film over those three days on the tragedy and the incredible work and innovations in community health taking place at the Sambhavna clinic.

On the evening of the 2nd of December, the night the gas leaked, the Sambhavna Trust will be holding a candle-lit march from Kamla Park to Iqbal Maidan to pay their respects to those martyred by the tragedy and offer condolences to the bereaved.
