After yesterday’s great news of Giles Clarke’s ‘Bhopal: Toxic Trespass’ photographs winning the Award of Excellence, in the ‘Pictures of the Year International’ competition, we are now doubly excited to announce that the work has also been nominated, in the Campaign category, for the 2016 Sony World Photography Awards.
On the awards website, Giles explains that the title of his campaign refers to scholar-activist Sandra Steingraber’s concept of toxic trespass, in which “chemicals that are suspected or known to be linked to cancer or reproductive problems; neurological poisons that are entering our bodies because we’re breathing or we’re drinking or we’re eating food and we haven’t consented to their presence being there.”Â
