On the eve of the 36th anniversary, survivor groups in Bhopal formed what may be the world’s first socially distanced human chain outside the factory site. Holding banners and placards calling for justice and accountability for the disaster, they also burned an effigy of Jim Fitterling, CEO of the Dow Chemical company. On the evening of the 2nd of December, exactly 36 years after the night the gas leaked, they held their annual candlelit vigil with burning torches.
