Bethnal Green curry house raises money for BMA on Mother’s Day

Big hearted Mo, who runs the Al-Amin curry house in Bethnal Green, London has done it again. Not only has Mo, over the years, recruited many dozens of runners, for our sponsored runs, and not only has he personally raised thousands of pounds through his own running, but this Mother’s Day he donated his profits to various charities including ours.

Mo made the gesture in memory of his friend Chris’s mother, Breda Leach, who passed away in January of 2007 and who Mo says was like a mother to him. Breda brought up Chris as a single mother and, in memory of Breda, Mo chose charities with a special connection to single mums.

One of the clinics funded by the Bhopal Medical Appeal is the Chingari Trust Rehabilitation Centre which was founded by two women who had struggled to make ends meet, and keep their families together, when their husbands were left in bad-health after the gas disaster. The clinic helps children born with physical or mental difficulties thanks to their parent’s exposure to the toxic gas or the contaminated water in Bhopal.

The Chingari Trust’s stated aim is to support marginalized sections of society, especially women and children (with special reference to victims of corporate crime) without discrimination on the basis of caste, creed or religion.

Our thanks go, once again, to Mo, and the Al-Amin curry house and if you are anywhere near Bethnal Green be sure to go and say Hi!

You can find the Al-Amin on Facebook: Al-Amin Facebook
