The congregations of Somerby and Oakham Churches in Rutland have chosen Bhopal Medical Appeal as their charity for 2015/16 and have been busy raising funds, organising a number of exciting and inspirational supporters events recently.

For the first event in October 2015,  well known local photographer Richard Adams, provided an evening of entertainment showing a wide variety of photographs accompanied with a commentary and musical background. The second event was a concert by the local Melton Mowbray Male Voice Choir, who gave an enjoyable performance of songs, both classical and modern. And most recently, in January this year the organisers, Ron and Sue Curtis, decided to do something a little different, inviting the entertainer ‘Flossie’ to perform her ‘non-stop miscellany of music, song and costume’. She sang traditional popular songs, imitating many singers such as Frank Sinatra, Demis Roussos, Sandie Shaw, the Ronettes and many more!

At each event the opportunity was taken to tell people about the Bhopal disaster and the work we do at BMA, successfully raising awareness of our cause and collecting a number of kind and generous donations. We wish them all the best for the remaining events they have planned this year.
