Exhibition of Bhopal photographs at Hull Mela

Thank you to Dr Avijit Datta and everyone at Hull and East Yorkshire Hindu Association for organising a fundraiser and exhibition of Raghu Rai’s photographs of Bhopal.

The event formed part of an Indian Mela which was held at Hull City Hall.

Magnum photographer Rai’s powerful and disturbing images were taken in the immediate aftermath of the Bhopal gas disaster in 1984. His photograph of a child victim being buried by her father (shown here in the poster held by Dr Datta, and in the portrait viewed by Rosie Millard) has become for many a symbol of the tragedy.

It will next be shown at the National Centre for Early Music in York on 13 June 2015. If you would like to organise a fundraiser of your own please click here to find out more.
