Run for Bhopal at the British London 10K Run

It’s that time of the year when many of us will be thinking, post festive season, about our own fitness- and what better way to get in to shape than to do a bit of running? Better still, it’s possible to get fit AND raise money for a good cause and, if you think that might be for you, then we have everything you need.

The Bhopal Medical Appeal has places in the ASICS British London 10K Run, on Sunday July 8th, and we are recruiting now. This will be the fourth year we have entered runners in to this event and we’ve seen it go from strength to strength.

It’s a fantastic route, taking in many of the most famous sites in central London. It starts at Hyde Park Corner and goes through Trafalgar Sq, along the Embankment and back past the London Eye and Parliament, then finishes on Whitehall. In fact it follows part of what will be the Olympic Marathon course and takes place just a couple of weeks prior to that.

We pay your entry fee, you get official chip timing and a personal race photograph, plus we give you a nice Bhopal Medical Appeal t-shirt to run in. After the run we treat everybody to a cold beer and curry picnic in Hyde Park- which has now become a very popular tradition with our runners! All we ask is that you raise £250 in sponsorship.

Should the 10K run not be enough of a challenge then we also do still have a couple of places left for the Brighton Marathon. That’s on Sunday 15th April so please hurry and let us know if you are interested.

We believe Dow & DuPont must finally accept responsibility for Bhopal. Until then, The Bhopal Medical Appeal funds two award-winning clinics in the city. Both offer free, first-class care to victims of the gas disaster or the ongoing water contamination. The survivors have nowhere else left to turn – please help if you can.
