About Paul Armfield aka ‘The Bhopal Beardpal’
After a few years in revolutionary eastern Europe, Paul Armfield returned to his beloved Isle of Wight in the early 90’s to get married, have children, sell books and write songs. His first album Songs Without Words was released in 2003 to wide critical acclaim. His voice was compared to the likes of Cat Stevens and Nick Drake and the music described as Folk Noir. A big fan of Scott Walker, Paul was likewise applauded for his renditions of Jacques Brel chansons as well as his own lovelorn, poetic songs.

Paul is also know as the ‘Bhopal Beardpal’ thanks to, rather gamely, subjecting himself to a beard shave-off in aid of The Bhopal Medical Appeal some years ago and raising around £6,000 for his troubles.

We believe Dow must finally accept responsibility for Bhopal. Until then, The Bhopal Medical Appeal funds two award-winning clinics in the city. Both offer free, first-class care to victims of the gas disaster or the ongoing water contamination. The survivors have nowhere else left to turn – please help if you can.
