Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief Minister Refuses to Meet Disaster Survivors

Today in Bhopal, around five hundred disaster survivors gathered in Neelam Park as part of their ‘Waiting for Justice’ programme. They waited from 11am until 5pm having challenged the Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief Minister, Arif Aqueel, to explain why he has not honoured a pre-election promise of greater compensation.

The minister did not turn up despite being just a few hundred metres away at the Indira Gandhi hospital around 3 pm and being challenged to attend.

We believe Dow must finally accept responsibility for Bhopal. Until then, The Bhopal Medical Appeal funds two award-winning clinics in the city. Both offer free, first-class care to victims of the gas disaster or the ongoing water contamination. The survivors have nowhere else left to turn – please help if you can.
