Bhopal torch relay – 28th August 2012

In Bhopal, a torch relay was held as part of an International day of solidarity, to coincide with the opening of the London Paralympic Games. The event was supported by London Assembly Member, Navin Shah, who recently lobbied the London Assembly to pass a vote condemning Dow’s Olympic Sponsorship. Shah’s wife was also present, along with many survivors from the affected communities.
On 28th August, 28 2012, an internationally coordinated candlelit vigil took place in solidarity with the people of Bhopal who continue to be affected by Dow Chemical’s toxic legacy.
This action was be supported by a variety of groups such as the Bhopal Medical Appeal, Drop Dow Now and DPAC, and took place in various countries including the UK, India, USA, Vietnam and Australia.
